Christmas in Switzerland – December 2006

Our last trip of the year got us back to Switzerland – finally! It’s been a year since we spent a White Christmas with my folks… understandably, the expectations for a repeat were high… but the unusually warm December weather made for a rather balmy and not-so-white Christmas… Never mind - great food (yes, too much cheese (Fondue and Raclette) and chocolate was consumed!), good company, fun times and a great day trip to Central Switzerland made for a great Christmas Holiday!

Family Dinner at my brother’s place. What’s cooking you’re asking?... Raclette!

Definitely NOT an urban myth – candles on Swiss Christmas trees are as real as the trees…

60kms from ‘home’ and close to Lucerne: Mount Pilatus (2132m altitude) is the perfect peak for a day trip. An aerial cable car or the world's steepest cogwheel railway get you above the fog in Central Switzerland.

Sunshine, great views and not much snow for the time of the year…
